2nd ANNUAL TEAMING UP FOR KIDS…THE RESULTS ARE IN

The 2nd Annual "Teaming Up for Kids 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament” was held at Concord High School on December 26th at 9:00am. The support was over-whelming this year with 30 teams (115 players) playing basketball and approximately $15,000 raised toward scholarships. Last year’s inaugural event included 13 basketball teams (49 players) and $1,000.00 in scholarships awarded.

Congratulations to the winning teams:

Adult Mens - "Swarty Swagger" - Blake Sandberg, Brett Austin, Danny McMahon and Ramon Johnson

High School Mens - "Churn" - Matt Wilmore, Michael Hoffman, Gavin Coughenour and Duncan Boone

Junior High Boys - "Red Hawks" - Colin Turner, Drew Hogan, Anders Revoir and Reece Fisher

Junior High Girls - "Gym Rats" - Kendal Swartout, Brynn Shoup Hill, and Jillian Litwiller

5th/6th grade Boys - "Concord Future" - Anthony Roberts, Hunter Dutton, Jack D'Arcy and Ethan Smith

5th/6th grade Girls - "Lady Shooters" - Aliyah Hershberger, Ashlyn Fish, Savannah Boerema and Kendal Taylor

3rd/4th grade Boys - "Tolson Elite" - Tumarle Morris, Tieon Mason, Ka'Jeon Kyle and Domic Bonner

While we congratulate the winners, this event was about much more than winning. Teaming Up for Kids is a showcase for youngsters and adults to engage in the spirit of athletic competition and demonstrate positive community involvement. We would like to thank the Community Foundation of Elkhart County for their sponsorship of Teaming Up for Kids as well as Concord Community Schools, Elkhart Community Schools and the media for helping to get the word out.

Planning is already underway for next year’s event and we hope to include additional school systems in Elkhart County for greater participation. What a great way to celebrate the holidays together!
