Media Contact: Vicki Elaine Becker (574) 296-1888

The Elkhart County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, in conjunction with Horizon Education Alliance and CareerWise Elkhart, is excited to announce a new Paralegal Apprenticeship Program. This innovative program is the first United States Department of Labor Certified Paralegal Youth Apprenticeship, not only in Elkhart County, Indiana, but also, in the nation.

Our Paralegal Apprenticeship Program provides the apprentice extensive on-the-job training plus a variety of professional certifications over the course of three years, while earning a competitive wage. To be eligible, applicants must be a junior or senior (2021-2022) currently enrolled in an Elkhart County High School. Students are encouraged to pursue college courses or dual credits, though not required. Upon successful completion of the program, the apprentice will receive a United States Department of Labor Paralegal Apprenticeship Certification along with outstanding marketable skills in the legal field.

Students are welcome to apply for this opportunity by contacting their guidance counselor and requesting access to the CareerWise Elkhart portal. The application deadline is May 15, 2021. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney will interview all applicants and complete the hiring process by July 1, 2021. Teachers and/or guidance counselor nominations are appreciated.
