MURDER FUGITIVE APPREHENDED IN GEORGIA

On May 26, 2019, at around 1:35 a.m., officers of the Elkhart Police Department responded to a residence in the 300 block of Sherman Street, Elkhart, regarding a shooting with serious injury. Upon arrival to the incident, officers found Ishmael H. Porter, 25, of Elkhart, gravely injured. Porter was transported to Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was contacted and took over the investigation which resulted in a formal charge of Murder being filed by Prosecuting Attorney Vicki Elaine Becker against one Iman C. Gregory, 25, of Elkhart. Initially, the formal charge and issuance of a warrant was sealed while investigators attempted to locate Ms. Gregory, locally. However, after learning that Ms. Gregory had left the jurisdiction, the charge and warrant were unsealed.
On September 27, 2019, with the assistance of the public, the United States Marshalls, the Elkhart County I.C.E Unit, and the Elkhart County Homicide Unit, Iman C. Gregory was located in Atlanta, Georgia, and arrested for the murder of Ishmael H. Porter. Ms. Gregory will be extradited from Georgia to Indiana in the near future at which time she will appear in the Elkhart Circuit Court for an initial hearing.
