JUVENILE SHOOTING AT NORTHLAKE APARTMENTS

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Northlake Apartments, Elkhart, Elkhart County, in regards to what was characterized as an “accidental” shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a fifteen (15) year old juvenile gravely injured from a single gunshot wound. The child was immediately transported to the hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit has assumed control over the investigation which is ongoing. A forensic autopsy has been undertaken to determine the cause and manner of the death; however, additional circumstances remain under investigation.
