The Indiana State Police launched a "Crash Reduction Enforcement Program' with the cooperation of Prosecuting Attorney Curtis T. Hill, Jr. at a press conference today. The program strategically places more officers on patrol targeting distracted drivers that are driving recklessly. So far in 2012, thirteen people have been killed in traffic crashes with many of these deaths attributed to distracted drivers. The State Police along with local law enforcement agencies will use marked and unmarked vehicles along with airplanes and helicoptors to conduct this special traffic enforcement effort. According to Prosecutor Hill, "The bottom line is to save lives and focus on public safety. Using programs such as these will make Elkhart County roads safer for everyone and reduce traffic deaths."
